Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has contracted Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to expand its nationwide 4G network and upgrade its existing 2G and 3G infrastructure. NSN is deploying its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) radio network infrastructure across 2,500 STC sites over the next two years, as well as modernising STC’s GSM and 3G networks to its Single RAN (radio access network) platform based on the Flexi Multi-radio Base Station. The Finnish vendor is also providing its FlexiPacket Microwave transport platform and its NetAct network management system to support STC’s GSM, 3G and 4G networks.
