IZZI hit with copyright non-payment lawsuit

19 Mar 2012

The Latvian cable operator IZZI is facing legal action by the Latvian Performers and Producers Association (LaIPA) over alleged non-payment of copyright fees. The dispute has been running for some time, Broadband TV news reports, but LaIPA has chosen to keep the case out of the courts until now. IZZI, which is backed by Luxembourg-based Contaq Latvia Cable Holding, had around 120,000 subscribers at end-2011, just behind cable market leader Baltcom which claimed 140,000 at the same date.
