CLB to arbitrate Uninor row

13 Mar 2012

India’s Company Law Board (CLB) will today hear cross petitions from Norway’s Telenor and its local partner Unitech regarding their joint venture Uninor. The relationship between the two soured following the revocation of Uninor’s operating licences in February this year. Telenor is looking to extricate itself from the partnership, with a view to finding another Indian partner.

Telenor petitioned to the CLB to remove Unitech’s managing director Sanjay Chandra, and his two nominees from the ‘management and administrative affairs of Uninor’, whilst Unitech has filed its own case to maintain the status quo, and prevent Telenor transferring Uninor assets to another company without the consent of Unitech.
