Une looks to sign up 180,000 LTE subscribers in first year

Colombian state-owned cellco Une-EPM expects to sign up between 120,000 and 180,000 customers to its Long Term Evolution (LTE) service during the first year of operation, following the commercial launch of the network, expected later this month. According to La Republica, the company has to date invested around USD100 million in rolling out the 4G network.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, 3G services were first introduced to Colombia in 2008, and had an estimated 4.42 million subscribers at end-December 2011, whilst Une’s LTE platform will be the first 4G network in the country.
