Japanese mobile broadband provider UQ Communications has announced reaching two milestones in its WiMAX-based operations. In the last week of February its total WiMAX subscribers reached two million, up by more than 300,000 since the start of the year, while it also reported that its WiMAX network coverage now exceeded 100 million of Japan’s population (close to 80%). UQ’s consumer device line-up includes wireless modems suitable for both mobile and home usage, as well as WiMAX-enabled tablet computers and dual-mode WiMAX/3G routers enabling roaming on cellular networks outside of UQ’s coverage zones.
