Djibouti Telecom, STC Group sign accord

28 Feb 2012

National PTO Djibouti Telecom and Saudi-based STC Group have co-signed a partnership agreement to link their respective operations in the region with Europe and the rest of the world. The Saudi firm says that additionally, the pair will also be able to take advantage of improved direct high speed data links between the Kingdom, Djibouti and other African countries. The setting up of the international point of presence (PoP) in Djibouti is seen as a ‘significant step’ in the expansion of Saudi Arabia’s telecoms network, which is based on IP/MPLS protocol – spanning the Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, India, UK and Singapore. Commenting on the accord, Dr Homoud Mohammed Al Kusayer, STC vice president for wholesale, said the new VPN services provided via the PoP will help the region’s business sector to upgrade its enterprises and reach its future goals.
