Malta’s Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Communication (MITC) has called for expressions of interest for the rollout of a fibre-optic network on the island nation, reports the Times of Malta. Concentrating initially on schools, hospitals, businesses and public service providers, the government hopes eventually to ‘reach all residential areas in a phased approach through a nationwide fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network.’ The government will consider a variety of investment and operational models, but will select the proposal which requires the least government aid.
