Japan’s largest cellular operator by subscribers, NTT DoCoMo, is reported to be looking to invest around 1.5 times its annual profit in its next fiscal year on improving its mobile networks. Chief financial officer Kazuto Tsubouchi has revealed that the firm is looking to invest around JPY730 billion (USD9.1 billion) in the twelve months from 1 April 2012, up from the previous spending estimate of JPY700 billion, Bloomberg reports. With revenues from data services now exceeding income from voice calls, DoCoMo is looking to strengthen its mobile data networks. Rival operators KDDI and Softbank have predicted investment of JPY440 billion and JPY500 billion respectively in the coming year.
