Leap Wireless’ revenues up 8.3%

Leap Wireless, a US-based cellco focused on pre-paid, low-cost mobile services, posted an 8.3% year-on-year rise in revenues in the fourth quarter of 2011, reporting sales of USD767 million compared to USD708 million in Q4 2010. The company recorded a net loss attributable to common shareholders of USD84 million in the three-month period, compared with a loss of USD249 million in the year-ago quarter. Leap signed up 179,000 net additional customers in October-December, slightly above its own forecasts, while its blended ARPU increased to USD42.09 from USD41.25 the previous quarter.
