Vodafone Romania, the country’s second largest mobile network operator by subscribers, has reportedly announced the launch of a strategic outsourcing agreement with Chinese vendor Huawei. According to BusinessReview.ro, the five-year partnership deal will see Huawei take over the management of field operations for Vodafone Romania’s network, while under the agreement the Chinese company will also take responsibility for website maintenance and construction, as well as infrastructure activities. Some 70 Vodafone Romania staff will join Huawei as part of the partnership. Commenting on the development, Babak Fouladi, Vodafone Romania’s chief technical officer, noted: ‘Huawei was the supplier of services and equipment of Vodafone Romania in important projects such as the launch of the 3G UMTS network in the 900MHz band, which brought Romanians access to high-speed mobile internet all over the country, as well as the implementation of the All-IP network. We wish to continue to reach high levels of network performance and optimise our operational efficiency.’
