Malaysian telecoms group Axiata has revealed that it expects capital expenditures to be between MYR4 billion and MYR5 billion (USD1.33 billion to USD1.66 billion) in the financial year ending 31 December 2012. According to The Star Online, the group has suggested that approximately half of that total will be spent on upgrading infrastructure to support data services, particularly in Indonesia. Axiata CEO Datuk Seri Jamaludin Ibrahim was cited as saying of the improvements in Indonesia: ‘The upgrade will be 4G ready as well, to enable us to easily switch over to 4G once we secure this spectrum. We hope to launch 4G services in the next two years.’
