Alestra to expand fibre network coverage

2 Feb 2012

Mexican telco Alestra has announced plans to enhance and expand its network with a view to meeting increasing demand for converged services. The operator has outlined investment totalling MXN1.2 billion (USD92 million) for 2012, of which more than 50% will be spent on infrastructure projects. It is understood that work on the upgrades will begin in April this year, and will continue through the end of 2012, with Alestra noting that its fibre-optic network will be extended to stretch for some 17,000km across the country, covering some 50 cities. The expansion, it claims, will provide it with greater flexibility for future growth.
