23 Jan 2012

Australian fixed line incumbent Telstra has reportedly agreed to provide open wholesale access to its in-deployment fibre network in South Brisbane, as well at a number of new real estate projects. According to iTWire, the new service, offered under the ‘Fibre Access Broadband’ moniker, will be available to access seekers on request, with the offering subject to the oversight of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). Commenting on the development, communications minister Stephen Conroy said: ‘Provision of the wholesale service will support competition between service providers on these networks and offer greater choice for end users.’
