Cyta Hellas to launch MVNO, expand VDSL

16 Jan 2012

Cypriot-owned, Greek alternative fixed line telco Cyta Hellas plans to enter the mobile telephony market as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in 2012 whilst expanding high speed VDSL2-based services under a trebling of its annual investment. Greek newspaper Imerisia reports that the state-backed Cypriot parent group, Cyta, intends to undertake a capital increase in its Greek subsidiary this year, with a plan to increase investment to EUR30 million (USD38 million). Cyta Hellas estimates that it holds a market share of ‘21% among alternative telecommunications providers’ and will continue to promote new services via VDSL2, which it launched in December.
