Information Capital Technology Ventures Inc (ICTV), an investor in Filipino operator Next Mobile (formerly Nextel Communications), has struck an equipment supply contract with China’s Huawei Technologies for the wireless subsidiary’s infrastructure rollout, The Manila Times reports. Under the terms of the USD12 million supply contract, Huawei International will supply and deliver necessary telecommunication infrastructure and systems required for Next Mobile’s nationwide build-out plans, it said. The unit is the Philippines’ sole provider of digital wireless two-way radio communication, and also provides digital mobile services, packet data transmission, mobile e-mail, wireless internet access and text messaging services. Earlier, ICTV revealed plans to invest between PHP30 million and PHP40 million (USD686,220 and USD914,960) over the next two years for CAPEX in connection with the launch of new products and services at Next Mobile.
