KPN of the Netherlands today confirmed that it has agreed terms to sell its Simyo-branded French mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) to Bouygues Telecom. No financial details were disclosed. In May this year the Dutch telco’s CEO, Eelco Blok, confirmed the group’s intention to refocus efforts to expand its international mobile division, including French MVNO Ortel, but simultaneously look to offload any inefficient operations outside the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. At the time the spotlight fell on the group’s Spanish and French MVNO businesses, which Blok confirmed were under review. KPN France provided Simyo services to around 180,000 customers. Despite the exit, the Dutch group says it will remain active in the French market through Ortel Mobile.
