Thumbs-up to TD-LTE tests over WiMAX network

9 Dec 2011

Alvarion has reported a successful test of its ‘4Motion’ solution supporting TD-LTE on WiMAX infrastructure operated by Canadian rural broadband services provider Xplornet. The Israeli vendor said that the test was the first of its type in Canada, demonstrating a migration path from WiMAX to TD-LTE, based on a software-defined radio solution. Alvarion CEO Eran Gorev said: ‘We are committed to responding to the unique needs of rural broadband operators, which include the flexibility to take advantage of the full scope of the 4G device ecosystem as it evolves. Xplornet is bringing advanced broadband capabilities to every Canadian province and territory.’
