Telematics boom in China

According to a Shanghai Daily report, revenues in China’s telematics segment will expand rapidly in the coming few years due to increased usage of applications such as smart car technology and high speed railway communications coupled with the rollout of faster mobile data networks. Shao Zhiqing, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, told the Telematics China 2011 forum that the revenue of China’s telematics industry rose more than 20% annually to CNY220 billion (USD34.4 billion) in the first three quarters of 2011.
