Bouygues Telecom picks Alca-Lu for IP upgrade

15 Nov 2011

French fixed and mobile operator Bouygues Telecom has selected Paris-based equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent to facilitate the upgrade of its current networks onto a single IP-based platform capable of supporting fast broadband, video and voice telephony services. Under the plan, Alca-Lu will support the transformation of Bouygues’ network through 100G WDM equipment and specifically, the vendor’s new FP3 400G IP chipset and future innovations from Bell Labs. Going forward the telco intends to use an IP-based model in both its core network (i.e. connecting to other carriers), and in the access portion of its network that connects with (retail) end users.
