Hungarian broadband connections pass two-million mark in Q3

Latest data published by the Hungarian telecoms regulator, National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH), shows that the total number of fixed broadband subscriptions in the country reached 2.027 million at 30 September 2011, driven by strong growth from DSL, cable and FTTx connections. Cable modem-based lines stood at 802,312 at that date, including 127,093 accessing via DOCSIS 3.0 technology, while xDSL lines accounted for 797,663 and FTTx a further 247,307. The NMHH found that incumbent operator Maygar Telekom, which markets broadband under the T-Home banner, had an approximate 34.7% of the fixed broadband market as at 30 September, followed by UPC with 21.0%, DIGI (12.1%) and Invitel (9.9%).
