Citing a local newspaper, Reuters reports that Telenor is in talks with the Malaysian government over a plan to raise its stake in DiGi.Com, the parent company of Malaysian cellco Digi Telecommunications. The Norwegian company currently owns 49% of DiGi, the maximum allowed under Malaysia’s foreign shareholding rules. The CEO of Telenor Asia, Sigve Brekke revealed that the company is urging the government to raise the foreign ownership limit.
