Alek Krstajic, CEO of Canadian cellular newcomer Public Mobile, has revealed that the CDMA-based operator reached a total of 150,000 customers at the end of September 2011. In an internal document reported by MobileSyrup, the executive points out that Public – which currently offers pre-paid-only services in Toronto and Montreal – achieved 40,000 net pre-paid additions in the third quarter, which was higher than the combined pre-paid net growth of the country’s three nationwide network operators, Rogers, Bell and Telus. So far focusing on basic services for low-end consumers, Public’s memo to its employees indicated that ‘3G services and Android smartphones’ would be added to its range ‘in Q4’.
