TIM Brasil’s Q3 net income climbs 116%

Brazilian mobile operator TIM Brasil booked net profits of BRL316.6 million (USD184.6 million) in the third quarter of this year, up almost 116% from BRL146.5 million in Q3 2010. Revenues for the period under review climbed 18.9% to BRL4.37 billion, despite a 9.5% dip in monthly blended ARPU to BRL21.2. The cellco ended September 2011 with 59.2 million subscribers, up 6.1% year-on-year, and said minutes per user (MOU) increased to 130 minutes in the quarter, up 5.2% y-o-y, and subscriber acquisition costs fell sharply to BRL36 from BRL55 in July-September 2010. TIM Brasil spent BRL87 million in CAPEX in the three-month period, down from BRL526 million in Q3 2010.
