P&T Luxembourg updates IPTV service

14 Oct 2011

Luxembourg’s state-owned telecoms enterprise and quad-play provider P&T Luxembourg has selected Netgem to upgrade its IPTV offering. The French vendor will improve P&T’s software, and provide the telco with new Netbox N8000 MediaCenter PVR set top boxes. Netgem’s new system will allow P&T to manage value-added content more easily; first on the list of incoming services to be introduced by the incumbent is video-on-demand (VoD). The upgrades are expected to be completed by the end of this month, with subscribers due to receive the new hardware over shortly afterwards.

In the company’s press release, Marc Rosenfeld, one of the directors of P&T Luxembourg, said: ‘We decided to work with Netgem because its software allowed us to make a smooth upgrade to IPTV 2.0 to offer our subscribers a raft of new services. Our customers will now benefit from a new exciting TV experience with highly intuitive and fast navigation, seamlessly blending IPTV channels with rich internet content and must-have apps like Facebook and the web radio service TuneIn.’
