Etisalat breathes new life into TV service

13 Oct 2011

The UAE’s incumbent telecoms operator Etisalat has launched ‘eLife TV’, a new television and video service delivered over the company’s extensive fibre-optic network ‘eLife’. The new offering is available as part of Etisalat’s eLife triple-play packages, which bundle fixed telephony, broadband internet and television services. eLife TV offers over 350 TV channels in 21 languages and over 30 high definition (HD) channels. It includes video on demand (VoD) with a library of over 650 movies and television series, as well as catch-up TV and recording features. Existing Etisalat TV customers looking to migrate to the entry-level ‘Master’ eLife triple-play package which includes eLife TV pay AED244 for the first three months (followed by the regular price of AED339), while new customers receive the package for free for the first month with no installation cost. In April 2011 Etisalat completed the deployment of its eLife infrastructure in Abu Dhabi, making the city the first capital in the world to be entirely connected to a fibre-optic network. The company is now working on expanding the infrastructure to the rest of the UAE.
