Bollore Telecom could lose WiMAX licences, report says

10 Oct 2011

French internet service provider (ISP) Bollore Telecom could lose its WiMAX operating licences, EuroTMT reports without citing its sources. The ISP was obliged to roll out several thousand base stations as part of a EUR1 billion (USD1.34 billion) investment programme, but to date, has only installed around 200. It is understood Bollore may now lose the twelve regional concessions it paid EUR78 million for in 2006, along with the licences it gained from TDF and Altitude in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Having opened an investigation into Bollore’s operations in July, the regulator Arcep is now said to be considering a formal sanction.
