Regulator awards temporary frequencies

Colombia’s ICT ministry has temporarily awarded an additional 25MHz of spectrum in the 1900MHz range to wireless operators to ensure the quality and reliability of services. Mexican-owned Comunicacion Celular (Comcel) and Luxembourg-backed Colombia Movil (Tigo) were each granted 5MHz in band A, whilst Spanish-backed telco Telefonica Moviles Colombia (Movistar) obtained 5MHz in band D and 10MHz band E.
