Kabel Deutschland expands reach of 100Mbps broadband

German cable network operator Kabel Deutschland has announced the expansion of its 100Mbps broadband service to around 300,000 additional households. The new high speed service, which is based on the DOCSIS 3.0 standard, has been expanded to a number of cities and surrounding areas, including Bamberg, Bremerhaven, Erlangen and Lueneburg. Following the latest expansion, the cableco’s 100Mbps service now covers around 7.5 million households in 13 federal states, representing around 60% of its upgraded footprint. Kabel Deutschland’s 100Mbps flat ‘Internet & Phone’ package is available for a promotional price of EUR19.90 (USD27) per month during the first twelve months, after which the retail price will increase to EUR39.90 per month.
