Czech telecoms revenue dropped 5% in 2010, CTU reports

28 Sep 2011

According to a report from the Czech telecoms regulator, the Czech Telecommunications Office (CTU), domestic operators generated sales of CZK126.5 billion (USD6.99 billion) in 2010, down 5% on the previous year. The watchdog notes that mobile witnessed the single largest overall fall, with the sector contracting 8% year-on-year to CZK74.4 billion. Total investments in communications networks rose, however, climbing 4% to CZK15 billion. The CTU also notes that whilst the number of registered SIM cards continued to grow – reaching 14.39 million (+4%) by the year-end – the declining trend for fixed line telephony continued, with the total number of main lines in service falling slightly.
