J:COM, Tokyu Corp purchase CATV provider Yokohama Cablevision

A report from Media Research Asia says that Japanese multiservice operator (MSO) Jupiter Telecommunications (J:COM) and Tokyu Corporation have signed an agreement with Sotetsu Holdings to buy 100% of its shares in domestic CATV provider Yokohama Cablevision. Under the terms of the deal J:COM will take a 51% stake in the pay-TV firm and Tokyu will own 49%. The pair hope to use the joint venture to develop new CATV services in Yokohama Cablevision’s franchise area of Yokohama; the pay-TV provider’s network passes 260,000 households there.
