According to a report in local newspaper Agencia Estado, Brazilian satellite pay-TV operator Sky Brasil has signed a deal with state-owned telco Telebras to offer a 4G-based mobile broadband internet service. It is understood the agreement between the two companies is not part of the country’s National Broadband Plan (PNBL), but will speed up the delivery of 4G technology in the country, Sky Brasil said. At launch the satellite provider is reportedly looking to offer services in Brasilia – before rolling out 4G to other locations over the course of 2012.
