Chile’s regulator Subtel has issued the UK’s Virgin Mobile with a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) licence that will allow the cellco to offer services nationwide. Virgin is yet to secure a network hosting agreement with one of Chile’s existing operators, but is expecting to be in a position to launch by mid-2012. The UK company is expecting to invest between USD20 million and USD25 million into the market, and is reportedly planning other projects in Latin America.
