Huawei inks deal to renovate Telenor Global Services Voice & IP network

19 Sep 2011

Chinese vendor Huawei has announced that it has been selected by Telenor Global Services (TGS) as the sole partner for the latter’s Voice & IP network renovation across ten countries. Under the terms of the contract between the two companies Huawei has said that it will provide TGS with a comprehensive One Network and IP Core solution and managed services for five years to countries including: Norway, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand and Malaysia. The vendor’s One Network and IP Core solution will reportedly enable TGS to ‘effectively deliver advanced voice, video, data and IP services to 170 international operators by building a future-proof IPX ready network, which is a high capacity and high interconnection quality security network that is compatible with TDM networks’. Further, alongside the development of the new IP connectivity network solution for TGS, Huawei’s integrated managed services, which will include network prevention, planned, and corrective maintenance services, will maintain the entire network, which it is claimed will allow TGS to focus on ensuring optimal network quality for its customers. Commenting on the deal, Jay Zhang, vice-president of Huawei’s Telenor business unit, noted: ‘This partnership demonstrates our ability to seamlessly integrate our managed services offering and deliver customised and flexible solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers and create maximum value for their business.’
