Telefonica Germany lowers LTE price in rural areas

14 Sep 2011

Telefonica Germany (O2) has announced plans to reduce LTE tariffs for users in rural regions by offering a discounted rate for the first year. The ‘O2 LTE for home’ flat-rate service offers speeds of up to 7.2Mbps. ‘O2 LTE for home is priced the same as our most affordable DSL flat-rate [service] Alice light,’ says Peter Rampling, Managing Director Marketing at Telefonica Germany. ‘It gives our customers especially attractive broadband offers at fair prices, regardless of whether they surf with LTE or DSL. In this way, Telefonica Germany is supporting the federal government’s broadband initiative to supply all of Germany with fast and affordable broadband connections.’ In addition, the company has cut the minimum contract term to twelve months and introduced a four-week trial period during which customers can cancel their contract.
