Polkomtel to invest PLN1 billion annually

13 Sep 2011

The CEO of Polish telco Polkomtel, Jaroslaw Bauc, has announced plans to reinvest PLN1 billion (USD314.9 million) a year in expansion and development projects. The mobile provider, which operates under the ‘plus’ banner, claims that the expenditure will translate to increasing investment ‘in material terms’ in the coming years, as the price of infrastructure falls. In 2009 and 2010 the company invested approximately PLN900 million, whilst in 2007 and 2008 it had invested more than PLN1.1 billion. As previously reported by CommsUpdate, Polkomtel’s new owner and owner of satellite TV operator Cyfrowy Polsat, Polish billionaire Zygmunt Solorz-Zak plans to invest heavily in fibre-optic and cable infrastructure.
