Swedish homes wrapped in 3G blanket, report shows

A new report by Sweden’s telecoms regulator the PTS has confirmed that the 3G HSPA-based mobile networks operated by TeliaSonera, Tele2, Telenor and Hi3G Access (3) between them cover 99.6% of the country’s population. Furthermore the 450MHz CDMA2000 1xEV-DO wireless broadband network operated by Net 1 Sweden (formerly Ice.net) covers 99.96% of Swedish inhabitants. The report added that the first stages of TeliaSonera’s programme of substituting fixed line services with mobile technology solutions in certain uneconomic areas is progressing satisfactorily.
