PureWave Networks has announced it has been selected by Cambodian telecoms firm Digital Star Media, which provides WiMAX services under the brand Emaxx, to supply its 4G infrastructure. The operator plans to expand its mobile WiMAX network, already commercially operating in the cities of Phnom Penh and Sean Reap, to cover seven cities by the end of the year end and hopes to attract 150,000 customers over the same period. Coverage is expected to reach a total of 25 cities by the end of 2012. The company is deploying PureWave’s Quantum 6600 Base Stations, and plans to expand its network by a further 75 base stations by the end of the year.
