Finland’s second largest cellco by subscribers, TeliaSonera Finland, has inked a two-year deal with local hardware vendor Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) under which the latter will modernise its existing GSM and 3G networks and roll out new Long Term Evolution (LTE) services. As part of the contract between the two companies NSN will provide its Flexi Multiradio Base Stations and NetAct network management system for the network modernisation programme. ‘Our first and foremost focus is on constantly improving the quality, speed and coverage of our mobile networks for our customers. Our current 4G services rollout in Helsinki is in line with this objective,’ Claes Nycander, CTO and SVP of Mobility Services at TeliaSonera, said of the development, adding: ‘We have selected NSN to fully modernise our existing radio networks, and roll out 2G, 3G and 4G services. This will allow us to ensure the best end-user experience while enabling us to be the leader in services and technology.’
