Telefonica halts online sale of O2-branded DSL

31 Aug 2011

The German subsidiary of Spanish telecoms company Telefonica has discontinued the sale of O2-branded DSL packages to online customers, teltarif.de reports. Instead, Telefonica Germany will market all DSL packages sold through its website under the Alice brand. The company acquired the Alice brand via its purchase of rival broadband operator HanseNet from Telecom Italia in November 2009. The report cites Telefonica O2 spokesperson Markus Goebel as saying that the company will continue to accept orders for its O2-branded DSL packages through its own shops, partner shops and call centres. He added that current O2 DSL and Alice customers should not see a change to their contract.
