According to local press reports, Vivo is to delay shutting down its CDMA network until June 2012. The network had been earmarked to close at the end of next month as part of Vivo’s long-standing plan to migrate from CDMA to GSM and W-CDMA, first announced in June 2006. However, some 2.3 million customers are still on the CDMA network, and Vivo says the delay until next year is to prevent disruption and provide additional time for those customers to migrate.
