Une-EPM to launch LTE in 2012

30 Aug 2011

Colombian telco Une-EPM has set the date for the commercial launch of its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network for early 2012. The operator plans to offer wireless broadband in Colombia’s largest cities with theoretical downlink speeds of up to 20Mbps. The network will utilise the ten 5MHz blocks of spectrum in the 2500MHz-2690MHz frequency band that, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, the company paid COP8 billion (USD4.05 million) for in June 2010.
