LightSquared, the USD7 billion Long Term Evolution (LTE) open-access mobile network that will utilise satellite spectrum acquired by New York investment firm Harbinger Capital, has announced that it has entered into a multi-year wholesale agreement with InterGlobe Communications, a business integrated service provider primarily serving the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania areas. Under the terms of the agreement, InterGlobe, a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) with nearly 20 years of experience, will become a wholesale customer on LightSquared’s imminent LTE network. InterGlobe’s service portfolio currently encompasses voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP), high speed broadband and video teleconferencing. Al Mayerhoff, president of InterGlobe Communications, commented: ‘The partnership with LightSquared helps fulfil our commitment to provide customised solutions that are tailored to the very demanding needs of our clients. With access to LightSquared’s 4G-LTE and satellite services, we have an opportunity to offer competitive mobile data service options that meet our clients’ need for speed, mobility and network resiliency’.
