MDC (Velcom) reports 27.2% rise in income; customers up too

Belarusian mobile operator MDC (Velcom) has reported first-half income of BYR790.8 billion (USD157.9 million), up 27.2% year-on-year; second-quarter income alone reached BYR420,2 billion alone, e-belarus.org reports. The cellco closed out June 2011 with a total of 4.461 million mobile users, of which 763,000 were mobile internet users. Velcom added a net 32,000 new lines in April-June it said. By the start of July the cellco had coverage of 95.3% of the national territory and 100% of the urban population.
