CAT/DTAC dispute on hold - for now

18 Aug 2011

The Bangkok Post reports that CAT Telecom is delaying its decision on whether to file a complaint against DTAC over the latter’s launch of 3G services. CAT has conceded that DTAC is using a ‘tricky free 3G service’ and as such may not necessarily be in breach of the terms of its operating concession. CAT president Jirayuth Roongsrithong revealed that the state-owned company is waiting for a green light from its legal team before sending a warning letter to DTAC. The operator started providing 3G services in Bangkok on Tuesday despite lacking approval from CAT.
