Bulgarian telco Vivacom has completed installation of 2,000 Wi-Fi hotspots and aims to roll out a further 500 by the end of the year. The hotspots can be accessed by anyone, regardless of their operator, and do not require a password. The hotspots are predominantly in shops, cafes and restaurants; 200 are in Vivacom’s own stores.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, at the end of March 2011 Vivacom was the largest broadband operator by subscribers, with a 29.8% share of the market.
