ArmenTel extends 3G footprint

Armenian fixed and mobile operator ArmenTel, which offers services under the Beeline banner of its Russian owner Vimpelcom, has announced the latest service rollout of 3G services in parts of Agarak, Berd, Kajaran, Sisian, Talin and other major cities across the country. As a result of the latest expansion Beeline’s 3G network now covers approximately 150 population centres in Armenia, capable of servicing over 2.9 million people. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, in June this year ArmenTel extended its 3G mobile network footprint to the cities of Vayk, Dilijan, Ijevan and Martuni, as well as Aramus, Balahovit, Garni, Dzoraghbyur and Nor Hachn. Further, the cellco deployed additional 3G base stations in Yerevan, Gyumri and Kapan to improve capacity.
