Indian mobile network operator Sistema Shyam TeleServices (SSTL), which offers its services under the MTS India banner, has announced that it has renewed its partnership with Sweden’s Ericsson, extending a managed services contract it already has with the vendor. Under the terms of the revised deal Ericsson will now take responsibility for four more circles – Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh (East) and Utar Pradesh (West) – having previously been assigned to handle operations in Delhi and Haryana in a deal inked in September 2010. The three-year deal will see Ericsson cover elements such as: network optimisation, operations and maintenance including field operations and 24/7 network service assurance, and fulfillment network service provisioning, customer problem management and spare parts management. As part of the agreement, 200 SSTL employees in Rajasthan will join Ericsson India. Commenting on the development, Vsevolod Rozanov, president and CEO at SSTL, noted: ‘Strengthening our existing relationship with Ericsson, we have entrusted them with the responsibility of managing an additional four circles along with the management of our largest fibre transport and wireline networks. This association is expected to further enhance our efficiencies and ensure quality service for our customers.’
