Airspan Networks is supplying WiMAX equipment for Zimbabwean ISP Aptics’ rollout of a wireless broadband network, following a contract awarded in the first quarter of this year, the vendor has revealed. The project involves 60 WiMAX 802.16e (mobile-ready) base stations, with a second phase planned to expand across the country. Aptics intends to offer a range of consumer packages bundling internet/data, voice and mobility. Amit Ancikovsky, president of Products & Sales at Airspan, said: ‘Airspan is able to provide ISPs such as Aptics with a cost-effective 4G solution and with such high consumer demand for broadband connectivity, Aptics can expect a quick return on their investment.’
