3Home consumer broadband campaign launched

18 Jul 2011

Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings (HTHKH) has launched a new promotional campaign for its ‘3Home Broadband’ high speed fibre-based consumer services. The ‘3Home-Runner’ customer service team has been introduced to perform quicker delivery of fibre-optic broadband to homes, aiming to meet demand expected in response to new promotions highlighting the capabilities of Hutchison’s fibre-to-the-building (FTTB) network passing 1.5 million households in Hong Kong (of around 2.2 million according to the company), of which approximately one million have access to a premium broadband speed threshold of 1Gbps.

Amy Lung, Chief Operating Officer of HTHKH, said: ‘More than HKD10 billion (USD1.3 billion) has been invested in our fixed line network infrastructure over the past 15 years, and around HKD600 million has been earmarked for our fixed line network infrastructure in 2011. Statistics from the Office of the Telecommunications Authority show that the average volume of monthly broadband internet traffic for the first quarter of 2011 increased by 25 million GB over the same period last year. This demonstrates overwhelming demand and strongly suggests that the timing is right for us to storm the home broadband market with a highly compelling proposition.’ 3 Hong Kong is the mobile telecoms and residential fixed line brand of HTHKH, which operates via subsidiaries Hutchison Telephone Company (mobile) and Hutchison Global Communications (fixed).
