The owners of Canada’s Cogeco Cable have categorically stated that the triple-play operator is not for sale, dismissing speculation that a larger domestic cableco would soon move in to acquire it, writes The Wire Report. Cogeco is a potential target for a takeover by a large Canadian cable company like Rogers Communications or Shaw Communications Inc, analyst Joseph MacKay of Mackie Research wrote in a research note on Friday, as its rivals would benefit from its substantial presence in suburban markets as well as its strong operating results. However, Rene Guimond, vice-president of public affairs and communications at Cogeco informed The Canadian Press this week that the Audet family, which controls the company, remains uninterested in selling. ‘The position of the Audet family is very clear on the matter. Cogeco is not for sale,’ Guimond told the paper.
